Rich with symbolism, Spirit of the Four Directions offers another way of looking at the world, and giving meaning to our lives. Note the vivid coloring and detailing throughout the body of the horse. It’s a beauty!

The Unicorn’s Garden Painted Pony depicts a unicorn resting in a glorious paradise-garden, surrounded by magical plants and flowers. If you’re looking for a unique gift for the equestrian enthusiast in your life, this intricately detailed and majestic figure may be just the thing!

Emergence

According to legend, there once existed a stunningly beautiful firebird with brilliant feathers of gold and scarlet, said to be as large as an eagle, who lived on dew drops and whose cry was so enchanting the sun would stop to listen. It lived a long time and, at the end of its life, it would build a nest of aromatic branches and spices, set it afire and allow itself to be consumed by the flames… only to arise from the ashes and begin life anew, more beautiful than ever. The moral to the story of the Phoenix, as well as Emergence, is that within us all lie powers of regeneration and, no matter the challenges that confront us, we all have the capacity to begin life anew.

May 6th through May 12th is National Nurses Week-Fun & Inspirational Gift Ideas!

April 17th, 2011

Did you know that May 12th is the birth date of Florence Nightingale? Little did she know that she would later be  recognized as the founder of modern nursing! Every year our nation dedicates a week to celebrates the hard work and dedication they give to their jobs and communities. Being a nurse requires a person to successfully combine ever-changing education and training with the ability to relate to people from all walks of life. They don’t just take our blood pressure, record our weight, and hand us medication…they comfort us when we’re frightened, offer encouragement, and oftentimes, they just listen.  It is not too much to say that these medicinal guardians are the heart and soul of our healthcare system. Being a nurse is indeed  challenging position that takes a unique, patient, tireless, and courageous person to fill. So remember to say thanks to a nurse on their week!

At Music City Cards and Gifts, we like to commemorate these healthcare heroes year round! We offer a unique selection of Nurse Gifts dedicated to help you show your love, appreciation, and gratitude for a special nurse in your life.

Celebrate the relationships in your life with a Foundations Angel Figurine

March 8th, 2011

Celebrate an important relationship in your life with a Karen Hahn Foundations Angel. There are currently 27 angels listed in this category that celebrate important relationships, major events and emotions.

Foundations Angels Bereavement Angel

Some of my personal favorites are the angels that feature moving sentiments to celebrate a familial relationship. What better way to show appreciation to a mother, sister or grandmother then to give them a delightful, decorative angel engraved with uplifting words that express your gratitude for their role in your role?

Foundations Angels Mother Figurine

The Foundations Mother angel figurine is one of my absolute favorites. Engraved with the words, “The most precious thing that comes from God is a Mother’s love,” this orange and white ethereal angel features a mother holding a bouquet of tulips and stands 7.5” tall, like many of the angels in the collection.

Foundations Angels Grandmother FigurineTell your grandmother you love her by giving her a purple grandmother angel, holding a wreath of flowers with the message “Angels often come to us as Grandmothers,” engraved on her skirt.Aside from familial relationships, the foundations collection features angel figurines that show appreciation for teachers, friends, nurses and other people who play important roles in your life.Karen Hahn Teacher Angel

Other angels use moving sentiments to give an emotional touch to a milestone, such as a marriage or anniversary and lastly there are those angels that simply evoke a specific emotion.

The new Guitar Mania Fender Figurines are way cool!

February 20th, 2011

Calling all Fender guitar lovers!

New guitar figurines have just hit stands at Music City Gifts.

Of the four new designs of these popular artistic mini fenders, my favorite is Dueling Snakes, as I really like the way they are portrayed throughout the neck of the guitar.

All guitars, from the Guitar Mania collection, stand 10” tall and are replicas of the originals featured in the public art project called GuitarMania. If you visit Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, you will see 10 foot tall decorated Fenders all over the place! They are so AWESOME! So the figurines are miniature Fenders based on some of the original guitars as seen at the Hall of Fame. The official Fender licensing logo appears on all the Guitar Mania figurines.

GuitarMania Eyes of a Stranger

Eyes of a Stranger – an exotic black raven with wings spread wide across a sea of red hues and greywash black designs decorates this figure. This is my son’s favorite. He thinks these guitars are perfect gifts for men… because they’re cool and fun.  But he also thinks some are a unique gift for women. He gave his girlfriend the new guitar figurine Rosey Eyes for Valentine’s Day! And she loved it. . .she was really impressed that the it came with its own display stand and in a Fender guitar-shaped box!

GuitarMania Griffin Figurine

Griffin – a gray griffin extends its wings across the blue and black background of the guitar figurine.

GuitarMania Rosey Eyes Figurine

Rosey Eyes – features white and pink roses against the design of distressed black and white coloring sprinkled with pink accents.

Guitar Mania Dueling Snakes

Dueling Snakes -  two blue snakes duke it out on this black Fender Guitar Figurine.

These cool, standing guitar replicas are part of a 21 piece Guitar Mania collection. See them all at Music City Cards & Gifts!

Music City Cards & Gifts introduces a new collection by artist Marcia Baldwin

February 18th, 2011

Music City Gifts has added something a little different to their inventory, a new collection by artist Marcia Baldwin.

Baldwin, a full-time professional artist, says she uses only the finest oils and canvas to create unique photos of horses, flowers, landscapes, wildlife and more.

Music City Gifts has just recently begun offering some of Marcia Baldwin’s equine collection.

On top of a new set of horse figurines, Baldwin’s collection boasts a unique set of equine oil paintings in different shapes and sizes.

Baldwin says her true passion lies in color theory, design and how composition can play an emotional role in the viewer.

The items featured on Music City Gifts include six canvas oil paintings of horses and four matching figurines.

Much of her artwork incorporates movement including her pieces entitled Wind and Wind II.  Music City Gifts offers the Horse Statues entitled Wind and Wind II and a corresponding oil painting.

Another unique aspect of her artwork currently featured on our website is the colors of the tails and manes. All tails and manes on the horses are almost rainbow-colored with a unique mix of colors in each piece. The oil paintings and figurines both feature this signature blend of color.

Current prices for her collection at www.musiccitycardsandgifts.com range from $16.95 to $18.95 for oil paintings and $31.95 for Horse Figurines.

Keep checking back for more items from Marcia Baldwin as Music City Gifts will be adding more of her items in the future.

Eight New Ponies Enter Retirement

February 13th, 2011

COLLECTOR NEWS FROM THE TRAIL!

Eight pony styles from the Trail of Painted Ponies have recently joined other horses in their pastures of retirement. Indian Summer, Year of the Horse, Keeper of the Sacred Fire, Petroglyph Pony,  Medicine Horse, Fetish Pony and Trail of Honor have all been retired. This can mean multiple things for Painted Pony collectors. It could be time to stock up on these long popular horses styles before they are completely sold out! Or,  perhaps, it may be time to consider if it is a good time to add a retired pony to your collection while it can be purchased at a good value. Chances are, after the limited supply of these horses dries up, these collectible ponies will begin showing up at higher prices from collector’s who jumped at the opportunity to corral one or several of these retired pony styles before they sold out. Music City Cards & Gifts encourages you to pick up any of these stirking retired ponies while stock at regular prices is still available, because once they are gone they are gone for good!

The new batch of retirees includes Native American-inspired ponies, Medicine Horse, Keeper of the Sacred Fire, Fetish Pony and Sacred Reflections of Time, Trail of Honor (a pony created by acclaimed artist, Devon Archer, to honor and pay tribute to the dedicated men and women of the armed forces) , and Year of the Horse (painted by Lori Musil to recognize the Chinese year of the horse). The other newly retired figurines include, Indian of Summer, a uniquely painted horse that represents the Hopi and their ties to agriculture, and Petroglyph Pony, whose name says it all as it was painted to represent the equine petroglyphs in ancient cave paintings.

Painted Ponies Sacred Reflections of Time

Which of these recently retired ponies is your favorite? We know which one is our number one horse…Sacred Reflections of Time! But we want to hear from collectors like yourself which one is your blue ribbon pony out of the group? You can just post on our blog the name of your favorite horse figurine, and then check back and see what other people are saying about the winter 2011 retirement from the Trail of Painted Ponies!

HAPPY TRAILS!

2nd Release of Horse of a Different Color Figurines & Wall Art are a Hit!

August 26th, 2010

Raven Tail

The 2nd release of the new Horse of a Different Color collection is a winner!  Collectors are delighted with the quality, the variety of styles, and the different mediums used! This round of breath-taking equine decor includes 10 new 6″ ceramic and resin pony figurines, dramatic large-sized horse sculptures, holiday ornaments, and beautiful ready-to-hang wall art! With such a wide array of choices featuring Native American horse art, painted pony collectors and equine enthusiasts alike are sure to find the perfect item to add to their own collection or unique horse gift for a loved one!

Collectors are particularly pleased with the inclusive variety of horse styles offered by the most recent additions to the Horse of a Different Color collection. Using body styles of Mustangs, Quarter Horses, Clydesdales and Thoroughbreds, the latest additions to the line brings several aspects of Native American traditions and the natural outdoor world to life through inspired designs and creative artwork.  Figurines, such as the Clydesdale, Woad, the mustangs, Dreamcatcher and Carnivale, and the quarter horse, Winter Coat, represent Native American culture directly through the use of traditional woven patterns, colorful paintings and unique Indian customs. Other styles in the Summer Collection, such as Evening Howl, Sunset Mustang, and Bear Fishing, celebrate everyday life in the natural animal world.

Evening Howl

The 2010 Summer release also offers six new window-boxed miniature horse figurines and six new dramatic wall art paintings… inspiring, dramatic horse poses on ready-to-hang canvasses!  Many of the miniature 2 ½ -3” tall ponies also carry the Native American theme by using traditional painted symbols.  Because the written language did not yet exist for the original tribes, these symbols were used as a way of recording history and signaling other tribe members.  One good representation of the use of symbols for language can be observed on the Storyteller figurine.  Another unique addition to this year’s miniature horses is the “Arabian”, which depicts Russian folk art.

Each of the six new wall art pieces portray the face of one of the standard horse figurines and is in a new slim and tall rectangular 8”x16” size, allowing for more artistic display of several paintings arranged next to each other!
New additions to this year’s herd include the holiday figurines and ornaments and two large 9” figurines.  The two large figurines, Raven Tail and Ojibwe, continue the Native American theme; however, the holiday collection is comprised of five gorgeous winter-inspired horses, including the statuesque Clydesdale Woodland Santa and the trotting Arabian Silver Bells.  Each of the five figurines can also be found in ornament form and makes for a wonderful Christmas gift.

Speed Freaks Model Cars~Cool, Fun Father’s Day Gift!

June 15th, 2010

Looking for a cool, fun Fathers day gift?

Have you heard of the Speed Freaks car and motorcycle figurines by Terry Ross? These whacky, original model cars were recently featured in the May, 2010 issue of Motor Trends Magazine.

Orange Smoothy

Speed Freaks is the name of a line of caricatures of cars and motorcycles sculpted by acclaimed British artist, Terry Ross. In addition to his passion for sporty race cars, his admiration for American muscle cars and classic Hot Rods is evident. Just one look at Horsepower or the just released Hot Rod Grin says it all!

The motivating artistic spark behind each Speed Freak figurine is in capturing that moment in time when the engine is revved up at top speed and the pedal is to the metal! Terry Ross’s creations are one-of-a-kind road kings that are intentionally distorted, giving the illusion of cars at top speed caught standing still in time!  As Ross explains, “If it’s not moving real, real fast, it ain’t a Speed Freak!”

Ape Hanger

Ape Hanger

When going for a ride in Terry Ross’s process in the creation of these cars… it is not at warped speed. Each design starts off with a soft clay that is sculpted to the shape of the desired car. Once Ross is satisfied with the design, the clay is baked until it hardens, with the next step in the process being the point where a variety of priming and sanding takes place. The final step Ross takes to add the WOW factor is the paint job.  When painting the figurines, Ross stays with genuine car colors and adds artistic eye-catching flair. When all is said and done, there is a good six weeks spent in creating these model car and motorcycle masterpieces before the original model is shipped off to the factory. Once these figurines hit the shelves they are produced for only a limited time, and then the design is retired, leaving you with a rare, cool car collectible!

Thirty Gee-Tee

Four-Thirty Gee-Tee

Whether that extraordinary Dad is into American Muscle Cars, Hot Rods, Performance Cars, Retro Racers, or Classic Motorcycles, these figurines make the perfect gift for Father’s day, as what man wouldn’t appreciate this kind of workmanship and style?!! Speed Freak Figurines are designed to satisfy car lovers of all ages. With over thirty-one vibrant models to choose from, there is bound to be just the one for your Dad!
